About Mārōnāyā

Mārōnāyā is a Maronite Catholic spiritual companion application. The app provides access to prayers, saints' lives, the Divine Office, novenas, and liturgical content from the Maronite and Syriac Christian tradition.

The app is available in a free tier and paid subscription plans. Our purpose is to make the Maronite tradition accessible to the global diaspora.

Accepting these terms

By downloading, installing, or using Mārōnāyā, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. If you are under 18, you should have the permission of a parent or guardian before using the app.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will notify you through the app. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

Your account

You may use Mārōnāyā without creating an account. An account allows you to save your prayer routine and preferences across devices.

When you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information
• Keep your password secure and not share it with others
• Notify us promptly if you become aware of unauthorised access to your account
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. We will delete your personal data within 30 days of account deletion.

Using the app

Mārōnāyā is provided for personal, non-commercial, spiritual use. You agree not to:

• Copy, reproduce, or distribute the app's content without our written permission
• Use the app in any way that could harm, disable, or impair its operation
• Attempt to access systems or data that you are not authorised to access
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract content from the app
• Misrepresent the content of the app or its connection to the Maronite Church

The liturgical content within the app, including prayers, readings, and reflections, is intended for personal devotional use. It is not a substitute for participation in the sacramental life of the Church or for guidance from a qualified spiritual director or priest.

Content and intellectual property

Our content

All original content in Mārōnāyā, including written reflections, audio recordings, app design, and editorial selections, is owned by or licensed to Mārōnāyā. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without our written permission.

Liturgical and traditional texts

Many prayers and liturgical texts in the app belong to the common heritage of the Maronite Church and the broader Christian tradition. Where we have drawn from published translations or sources, we have done so with care and, where required, with permission. If you believe any content has been used incorrectly, please contact us.

Attribution

We are grateful to the Maronite communities, scholars, and institutions whose work this app draws from. Where content is sourced from external materials, we aim to acknowledge this appropriately within the app.

Subscriptions and payments

Mārōnāyā offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis at the frequency you choose at the time of purchase. Payments are processed through a third-party payment provider. We do not store your payment card details.

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods unless required by law.

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will give you reasonable notice of any price change before it takes effect, and you may cancel if you do not wish to continue at the new price.

Australian Consumer Law rights apply to your subscription and are not affected by anything in these terms.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Mārōnāyā available at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The app may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. Where a change significantly affects your experience, we will do our best to notify you in advance through the app.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Limitation of liability

Mārōnāyā is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, about the app's suitability for any particular purpose or its uninterrupted operation.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the app is limited to the amount you have donated to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 AUD, whichever is lesser.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the app will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, unless otherwise required by law in your jurisdiction.

If you are located in another country, local laws may apply to you in addition to or instead of these terms. We aim to comply with applicable privacy and consumer protection laws in all jurisdictions where the app is used.
